An order
by Mulla Ali Abdulaziz, the head of the Islamic movement of Kurdistan, was passed
to destroy an historical part of the Kurdish history in Halabja. This order was passed
with the full cooperation of United Islamic (Alrabita). The graveyards of Mustafa, Khanm
Oasman Pasha, Shamsa khan, Nahya khan, Sabiha Khan, Mahmood Pasha, Jamel Beg, Hassan Beg,
Tahir Beg, Massoud Tahir Beg, Mullah Muhammed Bamokey had been left undisturbed for a
century, but were recently disturbed - some might say even destroyed-by an anti-Kurdish
movement. During the same disgraceful incident, approximately one hundred and fifty shops
were also vandalised, and proprietors of these establishments, and their families, were
obliged to leave the area, in fear for their lives. To
add insult to a considerable injury, this group also wishes to change the name of the
mosque, from Pasha mosque to something which the supplier of Islamic money will approve
of. All of these examples are part of an
ideology, and a plot against the Kurdish culture, which involves the abolition of all that
is sacred to our history.
|
At the beginning
of the twentieth century Halabja was part of the events which took place in the south of
Kurdistan, when British soldiers were present. The
English were dealing with Adela Khanm, and occupied big houses. We can read the words of Major Soan who went to
the house of Osman Pasha: I found myself at Halabja, a place unique in Turquish
Kurdistan, in being the residence of such powerful Kurdish people as Uthman Pasha, Lady
Adela, Tahir Beg, and Majid Beg, and being absolutely in the possession of the three huge
mansions in which they lived.
 |
Major Soan gives
us this feedback and continues his account by explaining about Uthman Pasha and his wife,
Adela Khanm, Khanmi Uthman Pasha, In Kurdish: Her servants were all Persian
subjects, and in Halabja she instituted in her new houses a little colony of Persian
Kurds, and opened her door to all travellers from and to that country, and kept continual
communications with Sina, five days journey away.
|
Gradually the
official power came into her hands, Uthman Pasha was often called away to attend to
affairs
Lady Adela built a new prison, and instituted a court of justice of which
she was president, and so consolidated her own power, that the Pasha, when he which she
was at Halabja, spent his time smoking a water pipe, building new baths, and carrying out
local improvements, while his wife ruled

This historical
places are valuable, because only by preserving them can we keep our ancient history
alive, to preserve the memories and experiences for our children and our childrens
children. In a practical point of view, these
places would also make good attractions for tourists.
In the meantime there is a very real chances of these signs of past civilisation
being lost. We as the Kurds have had few chances to preserve what is being destroyed by
invaders under the name of religion, by nationalists and occupiers.
|
Uthman Pashas
house in the middle of Halabja city was a place from which you could see the historical
sight of the city. In the early eighties some
Kurdish Intellectuals wanted to rebuild the whole house and make a museum of it, but this
was refused by the Baths party under Saddame Husseins rule. Again in 1988, when Halabja was bombarded by
chemical weapons and occupied by Iranian invaders, the remains of Uthman Pashas
house were razed into the ground. The only
things that remain are some graves, which everyone everywhere deserves, but which are
presumably a high privilege for the Kurds.
 |
The mosque of
Pasha, which was built by Uthman Pasha, was where Mullah Ali could make money. The mosque was named after Pasha, which was close
to his house at that time, and surrounded by dozens of shops where people of Halabja were
go about their daily businesses. The majority
of Uthman Pashas family were buried inside the mosque. Even Adela Khanum was among those graves. The shopkeepers were even paying double rent, one
to the ministry of religion and the second to Mulla Alis pocket, while nothing
belongs to him.
|
Halabja, in
history long before the Islams came there, was one of the main strongholds of
Zoroastrianism, from whom our nation taught to obey Good Words, Good Thoughts and Good
Deeds. It was in Halabja that the Invaders were defeated by the Kurds several times, so
many graveyards of those old battles are still proving what lesson our ancestors left us.
 |
Halabja had three
thousands inhabitants in the early nineteenth century, of which two thousands were Kurdish
Jewish. They had synagogues. In the early fifties, the Iraqi government deported all of
them to Israel, they left their properties behind, the Iraqi state converted their
synagogues deliberately into mosques. In an
interview with Radio Israel they said, we would like to come back to Halabja when
Kurdistan has got rid of the occupiers.
|
The two villages
Hawar and Hawarakon are Kakaee Kurdish and still not Muslim. The state destroyed their villages in the early
seventies, along with thousands of others, and they couldnt practise their religion
because of their fear of Bath party. They
were frightened a few times by these groups and being told that, they have to leave the
territory of Islam! Halabja, like other Kurdish cities, had never been controlled or
governed by Islamic rules. So why is the case
today? The answer is because of the enemy who always tries to find a method to fight us;
whenever the invading or bombarding is possible they are ready to do it. Whenever doing so
is impossible, they find some other methods and find traitors to be used to terrorise the
Kurdish. They try to destroy our ancient culture, as well as to destabilise and stimulate
our society.
 |
Today in Halabja,
after the 1988 massacre when thousands of our children lost their lives, thousands were
maimed by chemical weapons, the city was levelled to the ground by Iraqi and Iranian
soldiers, there are still people dying of cancer, deformations and abnormalities.
|
There are hundreds
of houses which still need to be rebuilt, hospitals, schools, cultural institutions,
sports centres and cinemas and so on need to be provided. Some humanitarian organisations
already tried to help the city, but the Islamic groups wouldnt let them do their
jobs and they interrupted them. In 1992, the wife of Francois Meterand, Ms Daniel Miteran,
visited the city with Mr Bernard Kushner, were they were about to be killed by means of a
car bomb on their way to Halabja. The people showed their respect by making a statue for
Ms Daniel in the middle of the citys roundabout, but later one night the Islamic
terrorist groups destroyed it, and they even destroyed the statues of Omar Khawar holding
his dead baby.
 |
The city has been
short of water for the last eight years, while it is very easy to bring water from
Ahmedawa, a previous resort area close to Halabja in the border to the east ok Kurdistan,
which is now restricted to ordinary visitors, and which has become one of the main
terrorist base areas, where they train their members to bomb womens hairdressers.
Some villages are close to the occupied east of Kurdistan, such as: Hanayding,
Awayrostambeg, Gulp, Palanee, Zardayhal. Their modern heavy arms and artillery are based
in Ahmedawa and Khormal, and these weapons are not used against anyone except the
Kurds. The reason they stay there is because they can keep arms there, close to their
creator, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country from which they obtain their supplies,
and which is used to keep in communication with the other terrorist groups around the
world.
|
The last incident
in Hawler can prove this. A bomber confessed on
Kurdistan TV of having been trained in those areas. The other Islamic groups are: Nasr,
Jundollah, Salafi, Wahabi, Hamas, Alrabita, and Nazha (the latter has now melted into
Mullah Alis group.
 |
Mullah Ali, who
has recently held the new title of sheikh, originally came from a small twon called
Shanadary. In the early fifties, his father was mullah of a village Hasanawa, close to
Halabja, but after his fathers death, along with his other brother, he went to
Halabja and became Imam of Pasha Mosque. In the early sixties, while the Kurdish
revolution broke up, he was the only one who suggested to the Abdulsalam Arefs agent
that he could gather some relatives and create an anti-counter Kurdish revolution.
|
Since all of his
Friday speeches were against the Kurdish uprising and revolution. The main parties at that
period were Kurdistan Democratic Party and Iraqi Communist part, which many Kurds were
members of. Ali was calling KDP a black dog and the communists grey dogs, in the mosque.
At that time, with his brother, he opened an Islamic school in Kaniashkan a district in
Halabja and encouraged children and told who participated in this school that they would
gain three Iraqi dinars, which was quite a lot, and the money was being thrown from Egypt
to Ikhwan Muslimin, according to a recorded fact which was captured by people in Halabjas
1987 uprising. Alis anti-Kurdish idea was heard by Kurdish leader, Mustapha Barzani,
who ordered Peshmarga to capture Mullah Ali and his brothers, and to handcuff to Mawat to
the headquarters of KDP. In 1975s captulation, when thousands of Kurds were
disappointed, and obliged to leave their guns, while they had to queue and hand over their
guns to Iraqis. He was making a joke of them and saying that they had to hand over their
guns: this is the result of making a revolution.
 |
In 1975, when the
new revolution started, thousands of villages were destroyed by Iraqi militaries,
thousands of our young men and girls were hanged and raped, Mullah Alis job was
Fridays anti-revolutions speech. All Friday he had to go to munazama, the Bath Partys base in Sarra
District in Halabja, to make them sure that the speech he did would be in the states
interest. Meanwhile he was muted by what Iraq had been doing to the Kurds. This was the
time when he made friends with the uncle of Saddam Hussein (Khairullah Tilfah). Ali
visited him regularly in Baghdad, with the mediation of that times Sulaimanys
Mayor (Sheikh Jahfar Barzinjy), and whenever he wanted to speak to Tlfah he did it in his
relatives house (Khalid Khulahsur) in the town of Said Sadiq. Khalid Khulahsur was a
mercenary and had daily contact with Baghdad. Ali had bodyguards in Halbja City and was
protected from the Bath Party, while the regime was hanging people for owning one bullet
while Mullah held a revolver, and even prayed with it.
|
His anti-Kurdish
attitude continued until he found a new business in Iranian politics, and thought that
Iran would win the battle he had with Iraq. Ali with his brothers, asked Iran to create
them a group called the Kurdistan Islamic Movement. What they first wanted to be named was
Hizbullah Gods party; the members of his group were people who wanted to gain
a salary or were working as a singular inbetween the border with East Kurdistan, to the
south, they could benefit from the Iranian travel passes as well. Their jobs were to
implement Irans policy.
 |
In 1991, people
stood up against Iraq. Later in 1993, 1994, the infighting between KDP and PUK started.
These groups took advantage of this, and they started to fight PUK while they were getting
support from KDP. They came apart from internal problems whereas there had never been a
problem for the Kurdish enemies. They managed to kill many young Kurdish fighters, and
they burned alive many innocent people during the night while the victims were made to
wear blindfolds, and they were beaten to death. The oldest report of Amnesty International
can be but a small page when compared next to the fear among our people. They bombarded
Halabja City, on their way to fly under Iranian authority when they fought with PUK, many
innocent people lost their lives.
|
Not having a
policy between the PUK and KDP created a vacuum for them. The time these Islamic groups
have power, they kill, oppress, assimilate, destroy, and convert our culture into the one
their bosses required of them. While in Afghanistan, Islamic groups were exporting drugs
it is one of their main resources but in Kurdistan they smuggle alcohol to
Iran and make good money out of it.
 |
The original
people of Halabja are still dispersed in different parts of Kurdistan, especially in
Sulaimany. Its been estimated that only 20% of the original people are living in
Halabja. These amounts are people who are poor and can not pay the rent beyond, so they
have to accept a stay under the atrocities of these groups. People of Halabja wish to go
back, but cannot accept the fear and terror engendered by these uncivilised groups. People
who live there are mostly the families of those groups, many of them are women killers,
thieves and the perpetrators of other crimes committed in other parts of Kurdistan,
therefore Halabja is the safest place for them; they are backed by Mullah Ali, and of
course Iranians are too close to them to help as well.
|
In Halabja, there
is no Cinema, entertainment places, no song cassettes. Women have to cover their heads
forcebly, games such as dominoes are forbidden. They give themselves the right to enter
houses without taking permission from the owner, to search for alcohol. They frighten
people by saying that if anyone opens a shop for alcohol or a cinema, he will be killed.
Efforts are made but they scared them by killing.
 |
Mullah Alis
group takes 2,800,000 dinars each month, just from the PUKs regional government.
While the civilians in Halabja buy drinking water, these Mafia bosses enjoy drinking
mineral water. Mullah Ali has got a private irrigator, and he has bought thousands of
hectares of earth and bought many properties. He is one of the richest men in the city;
all of his sons have got responsibilities within the group, and they represent their well
disclosed faces in Pakistan, Iran, London etc.
|
Recently a
division occurred into Mullah Alis group, and a man called H,H Sazani declared that
he is not happy with Ali, and he wrote a book called a respond to family and its
servants On the front cover is the picture of Ihsan, Mullah Alis picture
printed along with 6 other pictures, while he is with a prostitute in his office in
London.
 |
Yes, the story of
our nation is so long, as long as we stay under occupation and the rules of our enemies,
it is normal to have these temporary gangsters in our society. Its our duty as well
to fight and stop them from harming our culture and valuable places, harming our valuable
history is an effort to tear our identity if not converted. These groups which each of
them have never been anything in the Kurdish struggle against our oppressors while today
wanted to become everything and redesign our ancient land, Kurdistan, into the form they
want to. Its PUK and KDPs responsibility to expel all constitutional rights
which mistakenly been given to them, if they have the power to decide means they have
right and be allowed to fabricate and destroy Kurdistan. We wont accept an Islamic
state in Kurdistan, likely we havent accepted even to be ruled by others under the
name of Islam.
|
Today an
historical part of Halabja destroyed with 150 shops of civilians, today they frightened
Halabja, tomorrow will be Sulaimany, Dhoke, Hawler and other Kurdish cities, towns and
villages not just in the south, even in the east and to the north and to the west.
Its the 21st Century, and we need to move we are so behind, we
need to change and guard whats been guarded before, and to create a better,
civilised land for our planet, which our land is a place on
because we deserve it.
